INVERDOORN PRIVATE GAME RESERVE
Inverdoorn Private Game Reserve offers Big 5 safaris, luxury accommodation and a unique experience with their cheetah conservation initiative. The reserve is situated ±2 hours from Cape Town, making it super convenient for those in Cape Town wanting to experience a Big 5 safari (without traveling too far).
When I visited Inverdoorn I spent one night in their ambassador suit and another at their Kuganha Tented Camp Safari. Both were amazing and offered a unique experience - it all comes down to your personal preference and what you’re willing to spend. For me personally, the main reason for going on safari is to photograph and film wildlife and wow, Inverdoorn does NOT disappoint! Here are a few of my highlights…
WITNESSING CHEETAHS REACH SPEEDS OF UP TO 120KM/H!
Inverdoorn Private Game Reserve has a cheetah rescue and rehabilitation centre (Western Cape Cheetah Conservation) where the rescued cheetahs are rehabilitated and returned to their natural environment. Part of their rehabilitation involves learning to run as they would during a hunt, and this can be witnessed once a day after a sunset safari. Witnessing the cheetahs reach speeds of up to 120km/h was hands down one of the best experiences of my life! (Watch my Inverdoorn video below to get a glimpse).
UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL
Amongst their luxury accommodation, Inverdoorn also has a secluded tented campsite called Kuganha Tented Camp Safari. The tented campsite consists of three large luxury tents and is completely surrounded by wildlife and incredible landscape views.
Just moments before we were about to check out the following morning, the elephants decided to cool off by the pool right outside my tent! It was truly special seeing these majestic animals up-close and personal, and it will always be a special memory in my heart.
MY RECOMMENDATION
All in all, Inverdoorn Private Game Reserve is an amazing place to experience an African safari. I’d especially recommend it to tourists visiting Cape Town that don’t want to fly up to the Kruger National Park for a safari (which is also really incredible, by the way), and who also enjoy a bit of luxury travel with spontaneous adventure.
If you’ve read this far, thank you so much. I hope I’ve added value in some way. Please also feel free to watch my video below that was taken at Inverdoorn, so you can get a better idea of what I’m talking about.
